Small Boats and Mercury-Powered Team Plane Bills Win Big in the 31st Annual Mercury/SeaVee Pompano Beach Saltwater Slam

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

JUNE 2026

THE 31ST ANNUAL MERCURY/SEAVEE POMPANO BEACH SALTWATER SLAM BRINGS THE COMMUNITY TOGETHER FOR ANOTHER ACTION-PACKED WEEK OF FISHING AND FUN

The 31st Annual Mercury/SeaVee Pompano Beach Saltwater Slam officially got underway on June 11 as crews rolled into Pompano Beach’s Emma Lou Olson Civic Center. With school finally out, summer in full swing, and plenty of fish showing up offshore, the building was full of excitement, filled with friends, families, sponsors, and teams reunited under one roof, to kick off another unforgettable weekend.

Teams were welcomed by an electric atmosphere fueled by music from DJ Select and the fan-favorite Over/Under Game, benefiting our longtime charitable partner, Mission Fishin’. Crews enjoyed premium cocktails from Islamorada Brewery & Distillery and Josh Wines, served by the Hooters Girls of South Florida, while Bonefish Mac’s kept everyone fueled up with a spread for the weekend ahead. All while a packed room of small fry anglers gathered for a Bass Pro Shops and IGFA-sponsored fishing clinic led by Captain Jason Robinson of Cool Runnings Fishing Charters.

Series sponsors and partners were right in the middle of the action, with Eddie Forbes Art, Raymarine, Poseidon Marine, and many others spending the evening connecting with teams and celebrating the community that makes the PBSC so special. Throughout it all, Mission Fishin’ remained at the heart of the festivities, reminding everyone that the Saltwater Circuit is about much more than competition, it’s about giving back and bringing people together.

Saturday’s weigh-in festivities shifted to The Cove Waterfront Restaurant & Tiki Bar, where the docks and tiki bar filled with anglers, families, and fans ready to celebrate another great day on the water. While teams hit the scales, friends and families took their chances on the infamous “Risk or Reward” spin wheel, enjoyed dockside cocktails, and cheered on the teams as fish hit the scales. The celebration rolled right into Sunday at the Emma Lou Olson Civic Center, where Sky Limit Catering served up a homemade feast and the weekend came to a fitting close with an awards ceremony celebrating the top teams with cash, accolades, and prizes from Bass Pro Shops.

THE SLAM RECAP

From the BIG FISH or BIG BAG Divisions, and the brand new GROM SQUAD Division, to our Small Boat, Semi-Pro, Kids and Family Divisions, the Pompano Beach Saltwater Circuit is the only summer tournament series in South Florida that has a little bit of something for everyone, and with thousands in cash and prizes on the line, teams brought their A-game and smiles to the scales this weekend.

BIG FISH DIVISION TOP TEAMS

Claiming 5th place in the BIG FISH Division, Marko H2O, led by Captain David Markowicz, made the most of their day aboard a their 24′ center console. The crew weighed a 32-pound kingfish to cash in the division, but they were far from done. Two more kingfish, a tuna, and a hefty 31.2-pound wahoo pushed their total haul to 110 pounds, earning the team top honors in the Small Boat Division, runner-up finishes in both the Semi-Pro and Wahoo Heaviest Species categories, a win in the Small Boat Bonanza Calcutta, and third-place checks in the Big Three and Holy Mackerel Calcuttas. By the time the dust settled, the crew headed home with $6,439 and plenty to celebrate.

Right ahead of them in 4th place, Runnin Outta Time and Captain Daniel Krumsieck showed what a 25′ center console can do when the bite is on. Their 32.5-pound kingfish was backed up by three more smokers for a total weight of 88.2 pounds. The effort earned the crew third place in both the Small Boat and Kingfish Heaviest Species categories, while strong finishes in the Big Three, Holy Mackerel, and Small Boat Bonanza Calcuttas pushed their total payday to $5,380.

Making some serious noise in 3rd place, the young and rowdy crew aboard LET ER EAT, led by Captain Albert Marcano, exploded onto the weigh-in stage with the heaviest overall catch of the weekend. Fishing aboard their Mercury-powered 32′ SeaVee, the crew boxed four kingfish and three tuna for an impressive 146.4-pound haul. A 39.6-pound kingfish earned third place in the division, second place in the Kingfish Heaviest Species category, while a 28.4-pound tuna claimed top honors in the Tuna division. Add victories in the Big Three and Bluewater Challenge Calcuttas, clean sweeps of the Mid-Range and Semi-Pro Divisions, plus a Semi-Pro Bonanza win, and LET ER EAT found themselves cashing checks totaling $14,253.

In 2nd place, Mercury-powered Chasin’ Silver, captained by Jim Holman, reminded everyone that size doesn’t always matter. Fishing from a 20′ center console, the crew put together four kingfish weighing 88.2 pounds and turned that into second place in the Small Boat Division and third in Semi-Pro. Their day was highlighted by a stout 40.1-pound kingfish that earned top honors in the Kingfish Heaviest Species category, along with victories in the Holy Mackerel and Big Dawg Calcuttas. By the end of the weekend, the little boat with a big bite headed home with $10,702.

Standing atop the BIG FISH leaderboard was team Short Handed, led by Captain Cody Gavalier, who proved once again that small boats can deliver big surprises. Fishing aboard their 23′ center console, the crew brought a stout bag to the scales, totaling 81.9 pounds while also securing fifth place in the Semi-Pro Division. But the fish everyone was talking about belonged to angler Brian Sale. His monster 51.5-pound wahoo, almost too big to hang upright on the scales, earned him a seat on the gold E-Sea Rider bean bag throne, the title of E-Sea Rider King of the Meat, and top honors in the Wahoo Heaviest Species category. When all was said and done, Short Handed turned one unforgettable fish into a $4,325 payday.

BIG BAG DIVISION TOP TEAMS

Kicking off the BIG BAG Division in 5th place, Overkill, led by Captain Bryce McMillan, pieced together a solid mixed bag aboard their 29′ SeaVee. Four kingfish and two tuna combined for 94.8 pounds, good enough for third place in the Mid-Range Division and second place in the Mid-Range Bonanza Calcutta, adding another $1,074 to the crew’s weekend.

Just ahead in 4th place, Speculation, captained by Ryan Dingle, assembled a heavy five-fish mix consisting of four kingfish and a tuna weighing 98.4 pounds. Their effort secured runner-up honors in the Mid-Range Division and first place in the Mid-Range Bonanza Calcutta, turning a strong day on the water into a $2,006 payday.

Taking 3rd place, Mercury-powered team Knot for Nothin and Captain Robert Clawges brought a strong 123.3-pound bag to the scales aboard their 34′ SeaVee. Their mix of four kingfish and two tuna also earned third place in the Bluewater Bonanza Calcutta, pushing the crew’s winnings to $1,855.

Finishing 2nd, Slob City and Captain Carl Torresson showed up ready to remind everyone where they got their name. Their impressive haul of slobs, featuring three kingfish and four tuna, tipped the scales at 134 pounds and produced second and third-place finishes in the Tuna Heaviest Species category. Add a victory in the Monster Fish Calcutta and runner-up finishes in the Ante Up and Bluewater Bonanza Calcuttas, and the crew’s strong showing translated into an $11,173 payday.

But when the smoke cleared, it was Mercury-powered team Plane Bills, led by Captain Jesse Monserrat, standing at the top as the big bag champions of the 31st Annual Mercury/SeaVee Pompano Beach Saltwater Slam. Their BIG BAG Division-winning 136.4-pound bag, made up of four kingfish and four tuna, proved to be the class of the field. Angler Mason Selvanik carried plenty of the load, accounting for 81.3 pounds of the catch to earn the tournament’s Top Male Angler honors. The crew’s bag also locked up victories in the Bluewater Bonanza, Ante Up, Fish & Chips, and Charity Calcuttas, pushing their total earnings to $14,933.
