SCHOOL’S OUT AND THE FISH ARE BITING: GEARING UP FOR LEG TWO OF FLORIDA’S PREMIER MEATFISH SERIES

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
MAY 2025
CELEBRATING 30 YEARS OF THE MERCURY/SEAVEE SALTWATER SLAM – JUNE 12-15, 2025
School’s out and the fish are biting! The Mercury/SeaVee Pompano Beach Saltwater Slam from June 12 – 15 hits at just the right time for families to round up the kids and enjoy a weekend of summertime fishing in a family-oriented South Florida fishing tournament.
With an estimated purse of over $200,000, signature prize categories that include big fish payouts in excess of $15,000, a semi-pro division with payouts to five places, a small boat division for boats 26 feet or smaller, and a mid-range division for boats 27–32 feet, there are over 65 ways to win at the Slam. You might get lucky like newcomer team Maxed Out, who landed one big fish and walked away with nearly $19,000, or Hank the Buffalo, who earned close to $15,000 for the second heaviest fish. Add with the best parties in town, and it’s no wonder the Slam has been a must-attend tournament every summer for 30 years!
The action kicks off Thursday, June 12th, with the official Captain’s Meeting at the Emma Lou Olson Civic Center in Pompano Beach. Join us for a night to connect with fellow competitors, sponsors, and vendors over complimentary cocktails, dinner compliments of local favorite Bonefish Mac’s, and a lively silent auction featuring epic raffle giveaways.
Then it’s game time on Saturday, June 14th, as teams check in at The Cove Waterfront Restaurant and Tiki Bar in Deerfield Beach or Sailfish Marina Resort in West Palm Beach.
The weekend wraps up in style with a celebratory Awards Brunch on Sunday, June 15th, back at the Emma Lou Olson Civic Center, where champions are crowned and stories from the scales are shared over hearty meals and memories.
TOURNAMENT ENTRY TIPS: GENERAL ENTRY CATEGORY INFORMATION
The team divisions in the Saltwater Slam present two unique avenues for competition. Teams can elect to compete in either the BIG BAG or BIG FISH division. Teams in the BIG BAG division compete against each other for the heaviest aggregate bag, paying out the top eight teams in the category. Teams in the BIG FISH division compete against each other for the heaviest single fish, paying out the top three teams in the category.
Additionally, all other general entry divisions, including Small Boat, Mid-Range, Semi-Pro, Angler, Family, Kids, and Species divisions, are open to all participating teams. See the rules for details.
TOURNAMENT ENTRY TIPS: OPTIONAL ENTRY CATEGORY INFORMATION
Over $20,000 on the line in Kay Dee Dubya Jackpot – win big or grow the pot! Catch a weighable Dolphin, Wahoo, and Kingfish, and you’ll have the chance to line your pockets with some extra cash! If no one lands the KDW trio, the prize rolls over to the next PBSC tournament! Entry fee: $200 per boat. See the rules for details.
