March 24th Captain Skip Dana Report - Broward

March 24, 2011

The past week or so it’s started to feel like spring. We’ve been sporadically catching a few decent kings and we’ve been seeing schoolie dolphin almost everyday, and the tails are starting to bite.  This morning is the first time the king bite has "Gone Off". We had bites all morning, put 22 in the boat from 8-20#’s and probably had 50 or 60 bites with lot’s of cutoffs. 3/4 ounce white jig and ballyhoo combo was the hottest ticket this morning but we had plenty of bites on just plain ballyhoo with a 1/2 ounce lead. We also had a few tails and some bonitas.

The charter boats had some nice dolphin which were out a little deeper from 250-400, they also had kings and some small blackfins. We had a huge school of little blackfins swimming under and around the boat this morning but they were a little on the small side to choke down a ballyhoo. The water was a nice clean green and we had a little north current and for the first time in awhile there were lot’s of flying fish out front. Hopefully they will keep it up, sounded like it wasn’t as good this afternoon but they still caught a few and some tails. Good luck if you can get out.
