The Bite: Swords, Sharks & More

June 18, 2018

If you can fight through the bonitas and sharks the kingfish bite off the ledge in Jupiter has been very good, particularly in the late afternoon and into the evening.  After limiting out on kings, Captain Eric Rietwyk went 5 for 7 on sailfish on a charter out of West Palm Beach over the weekend.

The daytime swordfish bite was a tad slow over the weekend for the Sunburn Swordfish tournament, however, there were a few boats that still managed to land some nice fish.  Some Broad caught the heaviest sword at 296.7 pounds and Morning Wood won the aggregate with a  226lb and 108lb fish.

Sharks have made summertime tuna trips in the Bahamas tough but the deep dropping has been great.  Encore caught some nice yellow eyes fishing off the Gingerbreads on Friday.  Further east off Cat Island in the Bahamas, the Weez in the Keys landed this monster 70 pound dolphin over the weekend!  The Edge landed a couple of blue marlin and some nice dolphin fishing off Cat Island as well.
