Final Sail will determine the Quest for the Crest Champions!

March 25, 2014

On April 9th, Miami will become more than just a sunny beach with a Spanish flare; it will play host to the final leg of the largest sailfish series in the country, Final Sail. With an estimated purse of $500,000, rivalries will be amplified and the competition will be anything but blasé.

Final Sail is more than just a 2-day tournament. It will also determine the winner of the Quest for the Crest Sailfish series and the hard earned title of ‘#1 Sailfishing Team in the World’. The Series kicked off in December in West Palm Beach with Operation Sailfish. After the Sailfish Challenge, Leg 2 in February, Doing it All/Team Hardway took the lead. By the conclusion of the third leg in Key Largo, team Liquid holds a 5-point lead over the Doing it All/Hardway team. For full Crest standings visit

In addition to the title of world’s best, the winner of the Quest for the Crest will also be spoiled with the highest accolade in competitive Sailfishing. The champion team will don the esteemed burgundy jacket, reserved exclusively for the Quest for the Crest champions. Altier Jewelers, a sponsor of the Quest, will also be presenting an Aquanaut watch by Patek Philippe to the Top Captain in the series. The watch is worth $35,000!

The Quest for the Crest Series are tournaments based on catch and release of billfish. In the spirit of conservation, a portion of the proceeds from Final Sail will be donated to a foundation that funds scientific research and innovative educational programs to encourage conservation of marine wildlife, The Guy Harvey Ocean Foundation. The Foundation also believes in supporting efforts to educate and engage youths about our oceans and marine wildlife.  In addition, Guy Harvey is the featured artist of the Final Sail tournament.

Final Sail earned its name in part as the final leg and grand finale of the Quest for the Crest Series.  A unique twist to the tournament prize structure is a driving source behind the event’s name as well.  Final Sail teams will have the chance to win bonus cash and prizes for their Final Sail of the tournament. The last confirmation numbers from each team will be entered into a random drawing for 3 bonus prizes at the conclusion of the awards ceremony.  First place wins $4,000!  A team member must be present to win.

A ‘Grand Finale’ deserves a grand venue location, right?  Located in the heart of downtown Miami, Final Sail is hosted at the DoubleTree Grand by Hilton. Late registration will be during the kickoff party on Wednesday, April 9th from 6pm-10pm. Late registration fee is $4500 plus tax. Competition days are April 11th and 12th. If you can’t make it to the action, you can watch the Live Leader Board in real time during each day of fishing ( or follow @FishBluewater on Twitter for constant updates.
