Event Manager for Premier South Florida Fishing Tournaments

Position: Event Manager

Location: Deerfield Beach, FL

Job Type: Full-Time

Company Overview:

Bluewater Movements, Inc. is a sports marketing company based in South Florida.  We are leaders in the sportfishing industry with a 23-year history organizing some of the most popular and successful fishing tournaments in the country.

Position Overview:

Experienced, take-charge professional with ability to manage administration and logistics in a busy special events environment.

Assist with coordination and operation of (6) fishing tournaments per year and attendance at approximately 5 industry trade shows per year.

Must be able to anticipate project needs, discern work priorities, meet deadlines with minimal supervision and be willing to work occasional evenings and weekends associated with scheduled events on calendar.  Travel required for 4 to 5 of the events each year, with extended stays of approximately 4 days.

The event manager must have a love for event management, provide outstanding customer service, be an enthusiastic professional and be able to build strong relationships with sponsors, anglers, volunteers, media and all other instrumental contacts to the business.  A passion and familiarity with the sportfishing industry is preferred.

Event Planning Overview:

  • Facilitate task management, sponsor fulfillments and other event planning tasks via web based event management software.
  • Liaison with vendors and sponsors on event-related matters and fulfillment of sponsor benefits.
  • Liaison with committee members regarding roles and responsibilities during events.
  • Coordinate social media schedule and draft posts committed to sponsors of the tournaments.
  • Ensure that important pre-event documents such as applications, advertising insertions, contractual agreements, etc. are completed and submitted on time.
  • Deliver editorial content and advertising pages for event publications to graphic designer. Oversee proof process for publications.
  • Assist with updates to company website.
  • Assist with BEO negotiations at host locations for events.
  • Work with vendors to source shirts, hats, bags and other promotional items for events.
  • Design and layout of floor plans for events.
  • General reservations, ordering and scheduling of things like equipment rentals, signage, subcontractors, trophies, supplies, etc.
  • Manage onsite setup for events (bag stuffing, silent auction, signage placement, decorations, etc.) and breakdown following conclusion of events.
  • Manage all facets of event execution – kickoff parties & registrations, competition days, awards ceremonies, etc.
  • Distribute print collateral to local marine retail stores in the tri-county area.
  • Propose new ideas to improve the event planning and implementation process.

 Other Tasks and Requirements:

  • Assist with daily office administration responsibilities such as emails, answering phones, shipping, filing, running errands, scheduling meetings, etc.
  • In physically fit condition to handle some of the lifting, moving, etc. that may occur in association with set-up or breakdown from an event.
  • Reliable transportation required for routine business activities and transport of important items to events.

  • Bachelor’s degree or significant work experience in field is required.
  • 2 years + experience in event planning required.
  • 2 years + experience in office administration required.
  • Management experience required.
  • Computer Platforms– must be Mac & Windows proficient.
    • Computer Skills - High proficiency using the latest versions of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; mail merges, email and web searches.  Internet savvy.   
    • WordPress experience required.
      • Social media marketing experience with a strong working knowledge of Facebook, Instagram and You Tube.
