Captain Skip Dana - Broward Report - June 2

June 2, 2011
Fishing for the past week has been spectacular. Lot’s of kings, big kings, blackfin tuna, dolphin, yellowtail and mutton snappers, cobias, and african pompano. The pattern has been a red hot bite in the morning on the kings, blackfins, and dolphin. Mermorial Day morning we had 18 big kings, a few nice dollies, a 37 pound Blackfin, and a handful of snappers. In the afternoon the snappers went wild. Between both boats we had over 30 muttons and around 70 y.tails along with some kings and a couple dolphin. The night bite has been off the chain with most night trips catching the limit of kings and some big Blackfins. Sat. night we had 2 blackfins, lost 2 more at the boat, and had at least 3 more tuna bites, we also had 28 kings all nice size form 18-42#’s.

The bite has been all up and down the line but the bigger kings seem to just north of out front on a spot I call, "The Big Sexy", maybe a half mile north of the outfall, in the morning the bite has been 135-110, at night they have been all over from 180-75 with most of the bigger kings on the shallower side from 105-85.
Weather is gonna be a little sporty it looks like all week but it should set off the big dolphin bite. There were acres of big flyers getting pushed around by big dolphin, tunas, and bonitas this morning. We were only able to get one blackfin to bite this morning but saw quite a few, we also had 2 big dollies 25 and 18#’s but once again saw a bunch of them pushing the flyer. So if you can brave the seas it should be an epic week of springtime fishing. Good luck if you get out.
