Capt Skip Dana - Broward Report - June 29

June 29, 2011

Fishing before this last full moon was red hot. Lots of nice kings a few late season tunas and some nice size dolphin and cobia. The snapper bite was on fire too particularly in the afternoon and early evening. Lots of muttons and yellowtail snapper, we had 3 afternoons in a row that both the Helen S and Fish City Pride had over 60 snappers and 20 off those were nice muttons.

Then came the moon and the bite shut down, it wasn’t horrible just not as good as it had been. The past few days the bite has really picked up lots of nice tails and muttons and the fish have been deeper from 120-105 feet.

Still catching a few kings and lots of bonitas, the past 2 days little dolphin have invaded the reef but all the fish are well under the 20 inch to the fork limit.

Offshore the charter boats have been picking at a few dolphin around any debris they find and a few nice fish up to 28 pounds have been caught on the troll from 800 to 1000 feet and everyone that’s been daytiming has seen dolphin and tuna on the swordfish grounds. Weather looks great heading into the weekend so get out there. Good luck.
