Reconstructing Lives

One of the most unique features of the Sailfish Challenge tournament is its ties to the construction industry in South Florida.

Over the years, Sailfish Challenge owner/operator Jamie Bunn has worked jointly together with local construction organizations to provide great networking opportunities for their members inside the event.  In addition to its merits as a premier fishing tournament, The Sailfish Challenge has also become a great fundraiser for worthy causes.

In 2011, organizers and fellow construction sponsors of The Sailfish Challenge established a new charitable foundation called ‘Reconstructing Lives’ – a program geared towards providing construction aid to distressed families inside the construction community here in South Florida.

Reconstructing Lives was created to provide assistance to construction families who have encountered a tragic event in their lives resulting in special needs inside their home. Whether a tragic accident has left a family member wheelchair bound, a natural disaster has devastated their home or an illness has created specialized needs at home, Reconstructing Lives and its partners will be devoted to making the life transition an easier one for their coworkers.

Take a look at the video below to see how Reconstructing Lives was able to help Tommy Walton during his rehabilitation journey.

“Given our existing ties to the construction industry, this program is perfectly suited for The Sailfish Challenge,” said Jamie Bunn.  “We are excited about the impact we will be able to make in the lives of people who really need it over the long term.”

“Reconstructing Lives is truly a heartfelt cause,” said Bernard Paul-Hus, owner of Hypower and a sponsor of the tournament.  “As contractors we have a unique opportunity to utilize the skill sets within our trade to affect the lives of distressed families within our industry in immeasurable ways.  That’s what it’s all about.”

So when does the work begin?  Right now.

If you have a family member or loved one within the construction industry who may be in a similar situation and would like them to be considered in the process, please feel free to contact us in the tournament office at 954-725-4010 for specific instructions on how to submit your formal request for assistance.
