Saltwater Slam Returns With Big Payouts

May 23, 2018

The Mercury/SeaVee Pompano Beach Saltwater Circuit is heading back to Sands Harbor Resort and Marina on June 9thfor the second leg of the series, the Saltwater Slam. Teams are chomping at the bit for another round of big payouts after $150,000 in prize money was handed out at the first leg of the series in May.

Included in the Saltwater Slam purse is the optional entry category called the Pick 3, which touts a hefty jackpot that continues to grow. Three out of five of the tournament’s target species (dolphin, wahoo, kingfish, blackfin tuna and cobia) are randomly chosen prior to the Bimini start on competition day and announced over the radio to the fleet. The winner-take-all pot is expected to pay out near $30,000 to the team that brings the largest total weight of the chosen species to the scales. If no one catches the winning combination, the pot will roll over to the final leg of the series, the Saltwater Showdown, in August.

Big payouts aren’t just coupled with a first place finish for teams competing in the Saltwater Slam. One big fish could mean one big payday as well. A 47-pound kingfish caught by team Fenianat the first leg of the series reeled them in a whopping $30,773 in prize money.

Aside from the major cash prizes up for grabs, tournament swag and other cool giveaways will be available during the Saltwater Slam on the “Spin-to-Win” prize wheel. Its debut at the Saltwater Shootout was such a huge hit that bringing it back to the Slam was a no-brainer! With great prizes like Costa sunglasses, Bass Pro gift cards and a Resorts World Bimini trip, there are a ton of exciting ways to spin and win!

Teams are also battling to gain points towards a series victory in the Pompano Beach Saltwater Circuit. The Simrad sponsored Showdown Crown is awarded to the team that accumulates the most dominant team in the series. A series win will them extra cash and a custom set of Super Bowl style champions rings.
