Operation Homefront Release

October 8, 2012

On Dec. 12th, an infantry of elite sailfishing teams will converge on Sailfish Marina in Singer Island to prepare for Operation Sailfish – a competitive battle on the high seas.  Over the course of two days, these competitive anglers will battle to catch and release the most sailfish, fight to be seen as the champion and pursue the estimated $500,000 purse. Sparked with a military flavor, this event is dedicated to honoring the men and women who serve the United States of America.  In honor of their service, a portion of the proceeds from Operation Sailfish will be devoted to its charity, Operation Homefront.

A national nonprofit, Operation Homefront leads more than 4,500 volunteers with nationwide presence, and has met more than 590,000 needs of military families since its inception in 2002.  A four-star rated charity by watchdog Charity Navigator, nationally, 94 percent of total revenue donated to Operation Homefront goes directly to assist service members.  The Florida Field Office serves the families of 76,000 Active Duty and 34,000 National Guard and Reserve living in Florida.  Since 2011, Florida has distributed over $1,600,000 in goods, met 4,900 needs and distributed $90,000 in emergency assistance.  In addition, the Florida Field Office serves thousands of military families with our Back to School Brigade program, holiday programs and family support events. By pairing together with Operation Homefront, Operation Sailfish will have the opportunity to serve those who have dedicated their lives to serving our country.  Blue Water Movements President, Jamie Bunn, states, “We live in the greatest place in the world and Operation Sailfish gives us the opportunity to thank those who place their country before themselves.” For more information on Operation Sailfish go to, www.operationsailfish.com
