A $253,000 Payout Fuels the Saltwater Slam

May 24, 2016

Anglers heading into the 2016 Mercury/SeaVee Pompano Beach Saltwater Slam, slated for June 11th are still feeling the buzz of excitement brought to the scales in the first leg of the PBSC series.  146 teams joined the action for the 18th Annual Saltwater Shootout, leg 1 of the series, providing for the largest turnout in over 10 years.  Spectators in attendance for the weigh-in at Sands Harbor Resort & Marina were brought to their feet when teams Off the Wall and Crescendo captured the Pick 3 purse and the KDW Jackpot for a combined total of more than $135,000 in prize money in just two categories!

A $253,341 payout at the Shootout, the largest in the 20-year history of the Pompano Beach Saltwater Circuit, has created a tremendous amount of momentum heading into leg 2 of the series, the Saltwater Slam.  Who will establish themselves as the front-runner in the 2016 Showdown Crown battle for the top team of the season title?  Pop a Top is off to a hot start with their dominant win at the Shootout.  In addition to the bragging rights that come along with the hard earned title, there is a set of custom rings up for grabs in the Showdown Crown courtesy of Simrad Electronics.

Teams considering throwing their hat in the ring for the Saltwater Slam can look forward to more than just a great payout.  The parties rock, too!  A $400 entry fee covers all the anglers on your boat and gives you access to incredible food hospitality from Blue Moon Fish Company and Bonefish Mac’s along with open bar featuring Bud Light Lime, Tito’s Handmade Vodka, Captain Morgan Rum and Jagermeister!  Throw in a team bag filled with tons of sponsor goodies and some killer angler shirts from Salt Armour and it’s like Christmas in the summertime for tournament anglers!  Oh and one more added perk… SeaTow Fort Lauderdale is giving away a complimentary one-year towing membership to the first 100 boats registered for the Slam – a $180 value!

Never fished a PBSC summer tournament before?  Here’s one more bonus for you.  The top ‘First Timer’ team in the tournament wins an extra thousand bucks!  There is also a ‘Non-Pro’ division where qualifying teams can take home some more dough.

The kickoff party and final registration for the Mercury/SeaVee Pompano Beach Saltwater Slam will be held at the Pompano Beach Civic Center on June 9th from 6pm to 10pm. Bring the kids for a great time during the free fishing clinic hosted by IGFA.  The clinic is available to children between the ages of 5 and 12.  Kids that participate in the clinic also have the opportunity to enjoy a free afternoon of fishing on Saturday, June 11th courtesy of Helen S Drift Fishing. Advance registration is required for the kids clinic as spaces are limited. The weigh-in is held at the Sand Harbor Resort and Marina on June 11th and scales open at 4pm. The awards ceremony will be held at the Pompano Civic Center on Sunday, June 12th from 2pm to 5pm.
