$450,000 Checkered Flag Up For Grabs at Sailfish 400

December 19, 2017

Miami welcomes back the top sailfishing teams in the country as Sailfish 400 speeds into town on January 17th.  Sailfish 400 is the second leg of the Quest for the Crest Sailfish Series. The Quest for the Crest kicked off in Palm Beach on December 6th at Operation Sailfish, with a total of 269 releases and team Weez in the Keys taking home the top team title and a $210,000 paycheck.

Sailfish 400 teams will compete for an estimated $750,000 purse and their second chance to earn points towards the world champion title. Last year, 46 teams competed for the largest purse in Sailfish 400 history totaling $702,100. Team 4 Aces ended up in victory lane with the hometown win, a total of 9 releases, and a $237,230 payday.

The highly anticipated Release Round Up jackpot has rolled over once again. The $1,000 buy in is expected to push the jackpot upwards of $225,000 at Sailfish 400!  In addition, the Area Code Challenge is a general category in Sailfish 400 that provides a fun, hometown rivalry between teams and the opportunity to compete for local bragging rights and some extra prize money! The prize category is broken into four area code categories, 305, 954, 561 and LDF (Long Distance Fishing Team) with a $1,000 bonus payout to each team that wins in their area code.

In addition to cash prizes, a NASCAR Championship weekend prize package, compliments of Homestead Miami Speedway, will be given away to one lucky team competing in the tournament. Teams placing in the Top 8 will be eligible for the NASCAR grand prize. The winner receives six tickets to the Ford Championship Weekend, VIP parking passes, pre-race pit passes, post-race victory lane access and a pace car ride.  A portion of the proceeds from Sailfish 400 will also be dedicated to ‘Driving for a Cause’, a NASCAR Foundation charity supported by Homestead Miami Speedway that is geared towards community outreach in youth and public education programs.

Sailfish 400 kicks off on Wednesday, January 17th at the DoubleTree Grand by Hilton Biscayne Bay at 6pm.  Festivities include a casino fundraiser with the chance to win a 3-day/2-night stay at Resorts World Bimini with airfare. The competition days are January 19th and 20th followed by a party bus to the victory lane party at American Social Brickell. The event wraps with a savory awards brunch on Sunday, January 21st at the DoubleTree Grand by Hilton Biscayne Bay. Credentials are required for access to all event activities. Will you wave the checkered flag at Sailfish 400?  Early entry for the tournament ($3,750 plus tax) is valid through December 20th. After December 20th, registration is $4,500 (plus tax).
