2011 Saltwater Showdown Pre-Tournament Release

South Florida’s Top Fishing Teams Gear Up For the Saltwater Showdown!

POMPANO BEACH , FL-- The Superbowl of summer tournaments is almost here.  75 of the top qualifiers from the Pompano Beach Saltwater Circuit will mix it up on Saturday, August 6th to see who will claim top team honors in the championship Mercury/SeaVee Pompano Beach Saltwater Showdown tournament.  The Showdown is the culminating event in the 3-leg PBSC trail.  Up to this point, teams have competed in the first two legs of the series in hopes of securing a spot in the Showdown.

The Kiss Country sponsored Rebound fishing team collected the largest paycheck in tournament history, $99,025, when they won the 2010 Showdown event.  A large portion of that check came from winning the KDW Jackpot, a bonus category with large payouts to the team that catches the heaviest kingfish, dolphin and wahoo combination.  The KDW Jackpot has rolled over through the first two events of this season and is expected to approach $15,000 at the Aug 6 Showdown.

Currently, Rob Deignan’s Covered Up fishing team leads the coveted Showdown Crown category sponsored by Simrad Electronics.  The Showdown Crown awards points to teams in each of the 3 PBSC legs based on where they finish in the tournament.  Covered Up has a narrow 9 point lead over Robbie Buckley’s Kimbuktu team with 5 time champions Native Son less than 30 points back and several other teams within striking distance.

The Kids Castathon Championship sponsored by Chaos Rods will also take place over at the Hillsboro Inlet Park on August 6 in conjunction with the Showdown tournament.  Kids between the ages of 5 and 12 will have the chance to test their casting accuracy and win prizes compliments of Chaos Rods.  The casting contest takes place between 3 and 6pm at the same location of the Showdown weigh-in - 2700 N Ocean Blvd, Pompano Beach, 33062 (Hillsboro Inlet).

If you want to experience what championship big game fishing is all about, then come down to the weigh-in for the Saltwater Showdown on Saturday, August 6th at the Hillsboro Inlet Park.  In addition to watching the teams weigh their big catches, there is live music, food, drink and many other exciting sights to take in.

The Mercury/SeaVee Saltwater Showdown will close in grand fashion on Sunday, August 7th with the highly anticipated drawing for a brand new 29’ SeaVee valued at $132,000. The drawing is limited to a maximum of 4,000 tickets and you don’t have to be present to win.  Just ask Bob Gothier from Mechanicsburg, PA.  He won the 2010 SeaVee drawing!

The 29’ SeaVee comes complete with a pair of twin 225HP Mercury Optimax engines, a Real X Trailer, a T-Top and leaning post and a pair of Tigress TigerShark III Outrigger top mounts.  Here’s the best part - the boat is not built until a winner is confirmed.  This gives the winner the flexibility to pick their color, add options and build the boat exactly the way they want it before they take delivery.  SeaVee and Mercury are long time partners of Bluewater Movements - promoters of the boat giveaway and several large fishing tournaments in South Florida.  The 2011 SeaVee giveaway, marks the 10 year anniversary of the SeaVee drawing.  To see some of the past winners, visit www.winaseavee.com.  Proceeds from the drawing support a number of  charitable organizations including the Pompano Beach Kiwanis Club, Pompano Exchange Club and the IGFA Junior Angler Association.  For more information on the Saltwater Showdown, visit www.saltwatershowdown.com or call 954.725.4010
