Required Ad Submission Specifications:
Digital Format Only – Acceptable PDF Format: Save PDF using PDX/X-1a – it has an output resolution of 2400 pdi; it uses high-quality JPEG or lossless Zip compression; resolution for color and grayscale images is 300 dpi; resolution for monochrome images is 1200 dpi; and fonts are embedded and subsetted 100%. Trapping is the responsibility of the file provider. Further information about PDF/X-1a can be found at www.pdf-x.com.
Files: Will be accepted through FTP site (See info below) DISK: Mac / PC format using ONLY PDF, Quark, Illustrator EPS or Photoshop TIFF format. If using Quark, please include all extensions, fonts and images used (see font and image requirements below). If using Illustrator, please embed all images (Image formats and resolution below still apply) and convert fonts to outlines.
Fonts: Submit all postscript fonts inside a fonts folder, DO NOT USE true-type fonts. Convert fonts to outlines in all Illustrator EPS files. If fonts are not supplied, substitution will occur. Publisher cannot guarantee exact font match.
Image Formats: Supply all spaced art. Include all vector graphics in EPS format and raster images in TIFF or EPS format – 300 dpi.
Colors: All color in files must be CMYK values (no RGB) and set for process separation.
Ink Density: Total ink coverage should not exceed 280% - images will become too dark and muddy.
Raster Image Resolution: Raster images should be scanned 300 dpi and 100% of size used. Save color images in CMYK mode and black and white images in grayscale as TIFF or EPS format. Bitmap line art should be 1200 dpi at 100% of used size.
Match Proof: If Color is critical, a match proof MUST be provided with each color ad or a black and white proof with black and white ads.
